Today was a long day but nothing compared with yesterday.
That day involved two hours of driving from Midland to Toronto followed by a flight to Atlanta in the sketchiest plane I’ve ever been in. After an eight hour layover, it was time for a 6 and a bit hour flight to Lima. The last leg of our journey was the longest but it went by the quickest for everyone, mostly because we slept for almost all of it; the nine hour bus ride to Trujillo.
It didn’t really sink in that we were in Peru for a while though. When we stepped off the bus and saw the orphanage I knew that it was all worth it. Traveling is tiring and stressful, but now that we are here, we can focus on the Peruvian people and God’s mission here. Helping to build the orphanage gives you the feeling that makes all the hard work worth it. I wanted to say thanks to all the people who helped send me here. A special thanks to my parents and grandparents. Thanks to Midland Alliance and the youth group for sending myself and everyone else. Now we have a chance while we’re here to make a real difference in people’s lives.
