Hey everyone! Canada is so far away but I know that you are all right here with us in spirit. You’re support and prayers are greatly appreciated.
It is definitely not easy here as we are all tired and the work is hard but at the same time, we’re having a lot of fun. I’ve done everything from wielding a machete, to shoveling dirt, to sorting bricks, and now I’m sitting on the roof of a building covered in paint. It is hard work but it is rewarding to know that one day there will be children running around here being loved and learning about God.
Today we actually went into the garbage dump. It was really eye opening to see the kind of conditions that people work in every day. We were walking around in diapers, bags, wrappers, and many other things that we so often take for granted in Canada and yet these people are working to try and make a living off of those things. It really put in perspective for me how we have everything we could possibly need and these people are literally going through our garbage trying to make enough money to get by.
We only have one more full day here! I really don’t want to leave but I’m also really looking forward to coming home, seeing all my friends and family, and applying everything I’ve learned back home. That and sleeping in my nice warm bed at home.
Again, thank you for all of your support and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
