    Crazy Gringo

    June 26, 2015

Peru is a lot different from North America is the least I can say so far.  The people here are so friendly and actually want to start a healthy and fun relationship with anyone and everyone they encounter. The food here is also amazing and no one seems to have any problems with the meat, probably because it’s not injected with hormones and stuff. But they have this spicy sauce and I asked this guy if he eats it by the spoonful (because he was carrying a whole bowl of this stuff around with him) and he said yes and that it was a cultural thing. Not knowing he was joking, I took a whole spoonful and stuck it in my mouth. The look on the guy’s face was priceless, and I was able to laugh through my agony. He hasn’t admitted it yet, but he’s definitely convinced that I’m a crazy gringo.

Today I will probably be working with machetes, which will be fun for me, but nerve wracking for the people who know me. Ehehe. Oh well. Perhaps I won’t be too crazy because I’m still sore from breaking rocks, shovelling, and wheel barreling.

I hope all of you are doing great back in Canada, because we’re doing amazing here.

Aaaaaaaanyway, goodbye :P (And I’m sorry mom, but I photo-bombed almost every photo that was taken of me. I can’t help it lol).

    Dios te Bendiga!

Hannah, This will be a special time in your life that you will remember forever. I did a missions trip when I was 17 and the memories of that trip are still with me, and the effort to live beyond yourself in another culture will be with you forever too. Our perspective broadens when we get to give to a group of people beyond ourselves. We have the opportunity to see the world through their eyes, and contemplate their world view. This impacts our own and helps us see that Jesus is truly amazing because our God loves us all, and from one culture to another there are so many differences, and yet God loves each of us, Jesus laid down his life for each of us. A trip like this helps you see how great and deep the love of our Heavenly Father is. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you and your entire group as you complete this trip. You will have made tangible changes in the lives of people in Peru, and all of you will bring home memories that will last a life time. God Bless you and keep you and bring you safely back home. - From Cassie

Our hearts are with you all in Peru mission. GO MCAC GO. Please do not stress yourselves out too much while experiencing life in a rather different way. Shelters need to be built, but it definitely require a lengthy process with countless manpower. Do the best that you can, my dear and we will pray for your health and safety and hopefully see some pictures of you and others soon. Always luv you!

God Bless you and the rest of the team for what you are doing. Shout out to Shauna, hi bebe missing you. Not sure if any chance you guys are on the same team, I haven't seen much of her either and she's no camera shy like you. fyi she'll be crazy with machetes so keep your distance, I just hope she doesn't hurt herself. Praying that you guys will get plenty of rest after today to tackle tomorrow, God be with you. BAC rocks!!!

Hannah, Please allow yourself to be in the odd photo, it reassures us back home that you are still mostly intact, especially after using machetes. Great post by the way, thanks. It was the first proof of life in a few days.
