So far, it’s been really great. Spectacular. Nice. Fun. Indescribable. One of my favourite things today was actually being able to do some sharing with the whole team, because right at that moment, I felt a unity so strong, I pretty much lost track of time, since I was so consumed about learning about other people. One of the things we were asked to share about was the reasoning behind our choice to become a part of Mission Peru. There are various factors that led me to make the decision to join this great experience, including the love to serve and my eternal soft spot for children. In fact, I had actually wanted to become a part of this mission two years ago, but some things didn’t work out, which meant I had to wait for 2 years, since my Church joins Mission Peru every other year. However, God is good and His timing is perfect. Over the last 2 years, I’ve come to learn several things about myself and I think the biggest thing is this: one of the greatest gifts God has gifted me with is an abundance of happiness. I’m always so bubbly and have so much positivity and energy in me that I always feel compelled to share it. I sincerely believe that God made me such a smiley person because He wanted to bring smiles to other people’s faces through me, and thus, some of my greatest joys stem from helping others and knowing that I brought a little joy into their lives. Realizing this really helped me strengthen my faith, and I think that there could not be a better time for me to be a part of this awesome project.
To be honest, this is all slightly frightening, because I know for sure that brokenness is going to be involved sometime during the span of these 10 days, but after having hit rock bottom so many times and still being able to experience God’s everlasting and sufficient grace, I know that in the end, everything will come into place, according to God’s perfect plan. For now, I’ll continue to carry that happiness and joy with me everywhere I go, and share it. If what the people here need is joy, then I’ll give them all they need, because God just keeps supplying me with it, and I really do have more than enough, so I’ll spread it around, along with the Good News, that Christ has risen and will come again.

You WILL see the amazing work of God throughout this trip. Remember, there will be times when you will get sooo tired and exhausted. But, remember that God has chosen you and your fellow peers to embark on this mission, so God is watching you every second :) Do not worry! We will continue to keep the safety and health of the team in our prayers. And we pray that all of you will experience the presence of God through working with the people and throughout your alone time with God.
A bible verse for all of you students:
Jeremiah 1:7-9 New International Version (NIV)
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
Remember, God does not call the equipped, but, equips the CALLED. :D
