    March 6, 2014

    by Ray Majoran

On Saturday, March 8, the journey to Trujillo, Peru begins.  It seems like only moments ago when we began planning the 2014 trip; now it’s here!

My name is Ray Majoran and I’m your official media guy for the trip. For me, this will be my third trip to Peru. (2010, 2012, 2014)

In June 2010, 72 of us journeyed to witness God’s amazing presence in Trujillo, Peru.  I remember being absolutely blown away at the fact that there were 72 of us—such a meaningful Biblical number.  We did not plan on 72—it was simply the way it worked out.

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of Him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.” (Luke 10:1, ESV)

Our eyes were opened to the righteousness and glory of God; His people were alive and well… in fact, better than well (spiritually)!  And they were living on 1/1000 of our wealth.

Fast-forward four years later to 2014. This time we find 36 of us going down—one half of the number of people from six years prior.  Again, I can’t fathom that this is by accident.

Follow alongside us over the next couple of weeks at www.missionperu.ca. As I wrote in my 2010 post, you can expect the following:

    • Lots of photos (see 2010-2013 archive as well)
    • Lots of videos (see 2010-2013 archive as well)
    • Blog Posts (Journal Entries): Each day, at least one person from the Mission Peru team will be writing (or videoing) a blog post.

You can also follow our Mission Peru Facebook page and @MissionPeru Twitter account.  I would encourage you to leave comments on the blog and through Facebook.  I will be reading a number of them to the group each morning. In years past, this has been a lifeline to the students there, so be sure to interact!

If there’s something *extremely important* that you want me to relay to someone in Trujillo, send me a private Facebook message.

Our flight leaves on Sunday and we return on Tuesday, March 18.  The following is a sample of our next few days:

    • The team from West London Alliance Church meets in Bolton on Saturday, March 8
    • Everyone meets at Pearson International Airport on Sunday, March 9 at around 3:30am (which is really 2:30am body time because of the Spring-Forward time change that night)
    • Flight from Toronto to Atlanta leaves at 7:30am
    • Plane arrives in Atlanta at 9:43am and we have 7.5 hour layover there
    • Flight from Atlanta to Lima, Peru leaves at 5:02pm
    • Plane arrives in Lima, Peru at 10:55pm
    • We unload our stuff and get on an overnight bus to Trujillo, Peru
    • We arrive in Trujillo, Peru around 9:00am on Monday, March 10
    • We get settled and take an orientation
    • We take a tour and begin light construction in the afternoon

As we embark on this journey, I would ask that you pray for us and for the people of Trujillo. May the Lord use us as His instruments to come alongside the church in Peru.

    Sincerely,
    Ray Majoran
Your Official Media Guy for the 2014 Trip

May God bless each of you as the mission takes place. To quote my daughter's prayer that we have been saying together over the past few days leading up to her departure,"May our hearts be broken for what breaks yours Lord." Each member of the team has an amazing gift to share.God provides opportunities like this to use them. Safe journeys everyone.
