Hi my name is Grace Ennema and I go to Bramalea Alliance Church. Peru has been an amazing experience so far and I have so many different stories and events to share when I return.
One of the things I thought was really interesting was that the children, from the Mana ministry, were leading
us in worship. I think we all first went to Mana with the intention that we do our songs, skits, and stories, when really that was a very small part of what happened. Most of what was done was lead by the children and leaders of that ministry. Some of the songs we learned the dance moves too, we also overtime learned the words. Once we knew the words, even just a few, we’d sing them over and over to each other. God’s love has no language barrier and that was so evident through the children and the songs we were singing. When we were at church last Sunday (June 30) the whole service for us was in Spanish. It was really awesome when they played a song I recognized and could sing the English words mentally, while outwardly singing the Spanish ones. It was certainly a different way of worship but nevertheless God was still working though it.
When I went to a youth conference back in May, God had told me that he was going to us me in a big way. I thought that big way was going to be in this trip. When we were on the mountain having quiet time for journaling, God just told me to wait. I’ve learned patience and flexibility on this trip and I’m going to continue to lean into God and trust that his timing is perfect and I cannot box him into the timing that I think is right.
