    Day 1

    March 12, 2020
    Hello friends and family!

We have had a very full first day here in Trujillo!

We arrived at about 12:30 in the city and then began another short bus ride to the compound. After we arrived, we ate a lunch of chicken and rice. The students got settled in their rooms and then all went through to see the physician. Everyone is physically healthy and doing great!

After that, the team went to visit one of the ministries called Amijai. It is a children's program that happens once a month (you can see pictures in the photo album called Mission Peru 2020). The students were able to see life from a different point of view. Many students noted how happy the children were to be playing with such little. They had a lot of joy as we made paper butterflies and pipe cleaner soccer players.

"It made me feel really joyful to see the kids happiness when they saw the craft supplies we bought. It was fun to help them make the crafts!"- Ben Toth

"I felt like the kids were freer, they didn't care about what we were doing, they just wanted to have fun. They were really confident with us too, even though we didn't know many words we were still able to communicate with them and bond." - Noah St. John

"It was very cool to see the kid's faces when we showed the games and the craft, it was very motivating. It's worth the heat, the prep, the travel because we get to spend that time loving the kids."- Judith Romero

After the ministry, we came home and are playing some games until the dishes are done. We will finish the evening with worship, personal time, and debrief in small groups.

Please feel free to comment on these posts and we will share them with the students in the morning! Goodnight Canada!
